As previously posted, after our A-Levels we visited New Zealand.
After an exhausting 40 hours trip (flight time, waiting, changing planes etc.) we arrived in Auckland. Our activities were limited to some sightseeing around the port and one of the many volcanoes. More was not possible these first days. You should keep that in mind.
After this rest period and ugly Auckland, we headed to Northland, passing lots of green and a bit of Hundertwasser. Kiwi country is a green country!
In Northland we discovered beautiful Bay of Islands and the Northernmost point of New Zealand. Furthermore there are the thickest trees in the world, the Kauri trees. We spent three nights here.
The area north of Auckland is not really an insider tip, but nevertheless many tourists don’t visit it. Wrongly in my opinion, the area is very beautiful and definitely worth a visit.
Afterwards we drove to the centre of the North Island and visited Rotorua and Mount Taranaki. Due to winter season we couldn’t visit Tongariro National Park. Two days were sufficient therefore.
On our way south we passed some great waterfalls.
Finally in the south: Wellington, New Zealand’s capital and one of the more beautiful cities. A contrast to ugly Auckland. I already mentioned it, but have to say it again. We spent three nights here, before heading to South Island.
