In this post, we present our suggestion for spending one week in Sicily. We would definitely rent a car: it was ridiculously cheap in the preseason, roads are in great condition and you can see so much and be flexible. More details on our roadtrip here! What we couldn’t see this time: The southeastern part between Catanía and Ragusa. Next time!

1. Trapani
We entered Sicily via the small airport in Trapani. Sicily’s main airports are in Palermo and Catanía, but € 50 for the return flight were enough to convince us. Thanks to Ryanair! We spent two nights near Trapani and discovered Erice, San Vito lo Capo and Trapani.
2. Cefalú
Before heading to Cefalú we visited Palermo. After a lovely afternoon and evening in Cefalú we continued our trip the next morning to the east coast. We particularly loved our accomodation: B&B Ma & Mi with a great view over Cefalú, nice and large rooms and we even got a free upgrade!
3. Giardini-Naxos
What we wanted to see here: Taormina, Castelmola, Isola Bella and the Etna. Giardini-Naxos lies between them all, has a nice beach and was way cheaper than staying in Taormina centre. It was worth the stay, the two nights here went too fast.
4. San Leone
Crossing the beautiful landscape of Sicily’s inland we arrived the western coast near Agrigento. We stayed in San Leone, close to the sea and visited the Valley of the Temples and the Scala dei Turchi. There are also magnificient beaches here. After two nights we returned to Trapani.
