Just as mentioned in part 1, we’re both not the type for just relaxing on the beach all the time. We need action. So we booked one night in the north of the island, near Capo Testa and saw a little bit of what the north has to offer. Let’s say it was kind of a preparation for our next Sardinia trip.
If you think, the beaches can’t become better than in the south, you’re wrong. In the north, they’re so much more beautiful. Thanks to low season, we had them almost for ourselves. The views we had were amazing.
We just visited a few beaches. But there’s more to the north than just beaches. But first things first.
Capo d’Orso
A rock in form of a bear. Some people say it looks like an elephant. But we’re not going to discuss this. It’s a bear!
It’s located in the north of the island and there’s quite a wind up there. I was almost blown away and my summer dress was the wrong decision. Such decisions remind me to inform myself before visiting certain places.
Capo d’Orso is an impressive rock formation. From up there, we had an amazing view over the bay and the surroundings. With a good view, you can see La Maddalena and Corsica.
Capo Testa
This magical place is one of the northernmost places in Sardinia. There’s a lighthouse surrounded by granite rock landscape. The rocks were formed by the wind.
It’s an understatement when I say it was windy here. You should hold your kid’s hand when there.
As part time romantics we had to see the sunset here. Afterwards, we can say it was one of the most beautiful we’ve seen in Europe.
From here, we could even see Corsica. Another island on the bucket list.
As said before, it’s really windy (almost stormy). If you don’t want to be some kind of Marilyn Monroe you shouldn’t wear a dress here and bring a hoodie instead. My stupidity was rewarded with a bladder infection the next day.
Maybe you’ll be lucky and it won’t be as windy when you’re there.
Costa Smeralda for beginners
On our way back to the Costa Rei, we visited some beaches at the beautiful Costa Smeralda. We realized that this is rich people’s area. A lot of beaches and bays were not accessible.
Although it’s officially forbidden to buy beach areas, people just make private property of the entrances, so you can only reach the beaches via your villa or by boat. It’s a mess, but we can’t change it.
Our time was more than enough for at least three beaches. We found one of them as we were searching for food. This wasn’t very easy in low season.
I could do this kind of beach hopping quite a while.
Cala del principe
First people were coming before noon. But just a few. It was already very warm, but the water was still too cool. It was amazing just sitting here and listening to the sea.
Capriccioli
We found this cute tiny place by accident. We were really hungry and didn’t know what to do with ourselves.
The suffering was worth it. There was a little restaurant here with an awesome view.
Liscia Ruja
Water temperatures were finally warm enough by noon. If you see this turquoise all the time, you just have to jump in at least once.
The next time, we will definitely spend more time in the north and the region around Alghero. Maybe La Maddalena! If you have tips for those places, just comment below. We look forward to it!
