Here and there, people tell us they love to go on a trip with friends. The destinations are usually the same: Italy or Mallorca. Portugal and in particular the Algarve wasn’t on our (or their) radar for that purpose. But we’re smarter now.
The Algarve is the perfect destination with friends for several reasons.
1. Convenient Villas
Of course, this is relative. But a bunch of people can easily rent a really noble villa with a pool at the Algarve for a really good price. In total, we had a notion that there are only a few hotels at the Algarve, at least around Lagos. But definitely a lot more apartments and villas.
2. Activities
Even though the Algarve hasn’t much to offer on the sightseeing front, there are plenty of possibilities for activities. Surfing workshops are quite popular here. There are a few hiking trails or you can borrow bikes to explore the surroundings. Or you can just relax at the pool or the beach.
3. Sunset at the Cabo de São Vicente
Take a few drinks with you and watch the sunset together at the Cabo de São Vicente. There are only a few places which are as perfect as this spot. It’s all about collecting moments and stuff like that!
4. Eating and drinking like God in Portugal
The Algarve is famous for its delicious fish- and seafood dishes. We also loved the wine and the beer and the prices for it were a dream.
But cooking at home or barbequing is also a quite good idea here. There are some big supermarkets in the region with great fresh food counters and a huge variety of meat, fish and side dishes. Being on a diet is nothing when on vacay.
And if you’re motivated: There are fish markets selling even more fresh products in the morning.
5. Celebrating a wedding
All basic things are provided here. For all participants. The accommodations, the location, the prices. All those factors make a relaxed wedding at the Algarve possible without the need of a Kardashian bank account.
